Sensei

Our Masters

The KyoShinDo group officialy was formed in 2005 and began its career making by itself Taiko instruments with the help of the Taiko craftsman Master Hatamoto Tooru (Tokyo).

The group is continuing its path on Taiko Studies, thanks to the teaching of three great Taiko musicians : Kurumaya Masaaki (Japan), Joji Hirota (England, Japan) and Liz Walters (England).

Supported by these three Senseis, KyoShinDo group had its debut in June 2007 in Genoa, on the Mediterranean Music Festival’s stage.

In Japanese language, “Sensei” literally  means “one who was born before”. Japanese people know that it is not the age that address who is Sensei, but the student: it is the student who decides who is his Sensei as life-long guide along the path he chose.
