Profile
Since ancient times, in Japan, the Japanese Spirit Essence was handed down through Arts like Kendo (The Way of the sword), Chado (the Way of Tea) and Shodo (the Art of Calligraphy).
Taiko Do it is the Way of hitting Japanese drums. It represents the connection between I and not I, cooperation, harmony and playing together.
The Italian group KyoShinDo (the Way of the Echo of the Heart) follows the Way of Taiko.
These musicians pursue the Way of the Drum by embracing the Echo of the Sound and by putting Kokoro (intention ) and Ki (energy) in each beat.
The core of their work it is the Mitsuuchi, one of the Japanese Taiko primal sound. The Mitsuuchi originates in Fukui, in the Hokuriku region.
Mitsuuchi is considered as the origin of Japanese drumming techinque which has a unique feat between intervals and its rhythm. This peculiarity allows a musician to express a neverending personal richness at each performance.
Kurumaya Masaaki Sensei is the main representative of this Japanese taiko “source”. In 2005 he sustained the birth of the italian taiko group Kyo Shin Do, whose members already since 2003 used to go to Japan to the “Kurumaya Taiko Dojo” in order to attend his teachings.
